Africa is the second largest continent in the world behind Asia spreading its lands over 11,677,239 square kilometres holding the world’s second largest population with over a billion people living there. It also has some of the densest jungles and forests and the driest deserts some of which are famous for their safari and plush beach side hotels. Africa is famous for its diverse cuisines from North to South, religious landmarks, safari and tropical weather with excellent seaside locations. Even so, surely there are some things in Africa that we don’t realise are available.

Kite Surfing

Kite Surfing

Sail Around Africa

Rather than the land based animals on Safari you can get to see an underwater world that is just as breath taking as visiting the lands of the Big 5. Africa connects with oceans and seas around the world tipping the top of Antarctica in the South to being a part of the Mediterranean in the North. From the Med Sea the Suez Canal connects the northern seas of Africa to the Easter Seas in the Indian Ocean. Although a trip around this side of Africa does has a reputation for pirates as does a trip around the West side of Africa past Nigeria. Not to worry because the pirates are only interested in merchant ships.

Kite Surfing (Extreme Water Sports)

All over Africa there are plenty of spots to go Kitesurfing. A sport where you need a board similar to a boogie board and a parachute shaped canvas to give you lift. Africa is not only surrounded by water, but it is also full of some of the most picturesque lakes in the world where you can find plenty of kite surfing activities as well as other water sports.

Visit a Man Made Beach in a Land Locked Environment

In South Africa there is a paradise location generally very popular with the younger generation of South Africans called Sun City. Here you will find a beach made by man, but has a natural feel and beauty to it. No need to worry about sharks here as you can take a swim in the crystal clear water and relax by basking in the sun in one of the many resorts on offer.

Go Skiing in Africa (Yes you read it right!)

Who would associate one of the hottest places in the world with skiing? In the Kingdom of Lesotho there is a mountain range where you can find Alps quality skiing at a fraction of the price. Also, amazingly enough South Africa has its own ski resort found 3001 meters above sea level in what is the highest level of the Cape.

Gaming Online to Pass Time

Africa may not renowned for its technology, but as of late the internet systems across the continent are offering high speed connections from all major spots. Nearly all hotels and coffee shops on the major cities offer internet connections where you can play online gaming apps such as poker or get onto an online casino giving you access to a virtual world of fun while you are in the midst of a world in Africa that still remains relatively untouched by globalisation.
